In a world where we all want to display our best,
I felt compelled, today, to capture the rest.
My home is not pinterest-worthy, not by a mile.
But when I walk in, it makes me smile.
So I captured these images to let you see,
that the flaws in my home are everything to me.
Clothes hanging by the fire, 6 months of the year you’ll find them there.
A lowly book left on the floor, my daughter was reading it as I did her hair.
Our beautiful kids running around our tired old lounge,
laughing and makings the happiest sound.
2 pairs of muddy boots, and dirt everywhere,
show my kids have adventures, that together they share.
The fridge is drowning in photos of our kids, the family, and the rest.
And a quote gifted from my best friend, that shows she knows me best.
Invitations and save the dates, hang on the notice board above.
All the precious memories yet to make, with the ones we truly love.
I should probably clean the dirty window, but I’ll most likely give it as miss.
It’s where the kids wave to me when I work, and Ivy blew a yogurt kiss.
Treasures by our children surround us, art work displayed on every wall.
And the chart that shows their growth makes him laugh, and say “Look, I’m so tall!”
Rumpled unmade beds, and bags left on the floor.
All signs of a family that live here, who I love, cherish, and adore.
Dishes on the sink, and grubby coats and hat.
We went out exploring together, so we left them where they sat.
Wood sits in the barrow, and makes an awful mess,
but I wouldn’t pass on the wood fire, it makes our home the best.
An unfinished bathroom reno houses a dream that is yet to come,
Joss restored the old dresser, it's from the grandmother of my mum.
A clay leaf hangs by twine, from a bottle in my room,
it was made by the hands of my Nan, who left us far too soon.
It’s the simple things like this, that’s where it all began, you see.
this little home we bought and made… it started with him and me.
So here is a not so pinterest-worthy photo, of a less than perfect girl,
in her less than perfect home, that is truly her whole world.
